The European and International Booksellers Federation – EIBF – is delighted to announce that its former co-President, Jean-Luc Treutenaere, has been appointed for a second mandate starting as of mid-May.
Jean-Luc Treutenaere initially stepped down from his role of co-President at the end of January 2018. Due to new circumstances, he has accepted with enthusiasm to keep an active role in EIBF governance and has recently been re-elected as President of the Syndicat des distributeurs de loisirs culturels (SDLC)
Elected as EIBF co-President for the first time in 2014, Jean-Luc Treutenaere co-led EIBF for the past three years with his fellow co-President Fabian Paagman (Paagman Boekhandels, The Hague). Together, they successfully led EIBF at a time when the bookselling industry has had – again and again – to prove its relevance, in the face of competition from global retailers and the abundance of cultural offers. Having now been elected for a second mandate, he will keep working in partnership with Fabian Paagman to represent booksellers’ interests and make their voice heard internationally.
Fabian Paagman said: “I am delighted to be able to work in partnership with Jean-Luc again. His expertise and long career in bookselling can only be beneficial for EIBF. It is a great asset for our leadership to have someone who will represent booksellers and their interests with such commitment. I am very much looking forward to this renewed collaboration which is a real added value to our Federation.”
Jean-Luc Treutenaere added: “It’s a real pleasure and a great privilege to have been appointed as EIBF co-President for a second mandate. Taking on the job of representing booksellers and their interests before the different actors on the political stage is not only thrilling it is also fascinating.”
